I believe in women and our power to form community and support each other. I believe that our lives are enhanced by this community.

When my family moved to Carbondale in June 2014 one of my first priorities was to meet people, form community. While getting a Rec Center membership I asked about activities for young kids and I was pointed to the Carbondale Moms for Moms website. That very night I requested a membership and was so excited to see how many groups and resources were available on the site.

You can imagine my excitement when the opportunity to be a part of Carbondale Moms for Moms presented itself. This is such a great opportunity to enhance community while learning new skills. I fired off an e-mail to Janine within minutes of the discovery. In this community I see so much potential to help mothers to connect, inform, support and inspire.

I’ve always been on a career track, earning a PhD in Ecology in 2009. Before kids I thought I would remain on this track. When Kai was born in 2010 I realized that part of me would always be with him, my attention divided. I hung in there at work for the next four and half years and through the birth of our second son Dax in 2013, and have just recently given in to the pull of staying home with my young boys and spending as much time with them as I can while they are young.

That said I also value and need time spent away from my littles to recharge my batteries. In this time I love to read, get together with friends, run, be outside, knit, and pursue new interests such as making soap or creating my own sourdough starter.

Mothers are easy to connect with; we have so much in common. We can lift each other up. Carbondale Moms for Moms is already a place where we do this. I look forward to building on the strong foundations laid, continuing the legacy of this site that is already connecting and supporting mothers. I want to give to this community. I want to meet, support and lift up mothers of every age and station. I look forward to providing a place for mothers to connect, plan, and learn.

Virginia Edelson

Virginia_1865Owner of Aspen Moms for Moms

As I have entered this new journey as a mother, I selfishly want to do everything I can to create the community I have in my professional life in my life as a mother. With that, I feel it is my duty to give back to others, the way that other mothers that have helped me along the way thus far. Stumbling upon the Aspen Moms for Moms site was my “ah-ha”. I knew the site would be a tremendous asset to myself and once the site became available, I knew (know!) that I can take it to the next level to foster the sense of community in the Aspen and Snowmass areas.

Virginia Edelson lives in Old Snowmass with her husband Jeff, son Zach and Labrador Zara. She moved to the Roaring Fork Valley after graduating from the University of Virginia. In her almost 10 years in the valley, she has taught skiing, managed events at The Little Nell, launched Bluebird Productions, an event coordination company, and started a “real life” in the valley. She met her husband Jeff here. Soon thereafter, a home and their dog Zara followed. Her son Zachary was born in December of 2014. Virginia tends to throw herself wholeheartedly into each element of her life thus, her new role of “Mom” is not taken lightly.

Virginia has always been a “connector.” She loves connecting people: acquantainces, friends, and family. Developing and creating a sense of community has always been important to her. Moms for Moms offers just that: a fabulous platform to connect people and provide them with a sense of community. She is excited and honored to take on the role as part of Aspen Moms for Moms to take this platform to the next level and create a deeper sense of community.

GVMFM will be a great way for local mothers, and mothers like myself who are fairly new to the area,  find more friendships, gather more support, feel not alone, an outlet of frustration or need a good laugh from what motherhood brings us. I have such high hopes for this wonderful online community and hope I can call all my members friends someday soon!

I love being a wife and mother in this wonderful Grand Valley community.  It’s a small community in a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains in every direction. The community is filled with people who are very active in outdoor activities, church, volunteering, non profits and social events. You couldn’t ask for a better community to raise your children, and there is always something going on, which I love! I have enjoyed getting to know new people and have already established lasting friendships.

Growing up in Southern California we visited Colorado once a year to visit family. I always loved the  beauty of Colorado and the friendly people, so I was pleasantly surprised when I met my hubby here in Colorado 5 years ago on vacation. I moved after a year of dating and after 4 years of marriage we have two beautiful kiddos and live on a 10 acre farm. We enjoy traveling, camping, boating, paddle boarding, surfing, atv-ing, snow boarding and much more that the outdoors can give us.

I can truly say that 90% of my friendships here were cultivated on the Moms for Moms sites!!

I feel so lucky to honestly say that the life I am living now is almost exactly what I wished for through every challenge and heartache in the past. My husband, Tom, & I met in Junior High in Salida, he was my ‘first love’— how cheesy, huh?! J He moved away in High School and we became pen pals and best friends; writing letters, traveling to each other’s sporting events and racking up some serious long distance phone bills!! For whatever reason we lost touch for about 10 years and reunited in 2010. We picked up where we left off very quickly and it just seemed natural that our wonderful surprise of parenthood just became the next logical step!

We welcomed our pride and joy, Sawyer Brookes, to this world in December 2011!! Kids have always been a part of my life—an avid babysitter growing up & I had a business in Salida teaching Spanish in our local preschools—but I never imagined just how wonderful (and overwhelming at times) parenthood could be. Sharing this with my husband & best friend who is the most amazing daddy I know just makes motherhood exponentially better! It is truly the greatest gift ever and I am so thrilled to be a part of the Moms for Moms community to share & learn…we all have so much to offer!!

As a family we love to get out & enjoy the outdoors- mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, camping, hunting, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and now we do a lot of ‘strolling’. Fresh air and sunshine seem to be our ‘cure-all’ remedies and we are lucky to have family that love to join us and hang out with Sawyer so we can all take turns getting out to recreate!! I love to travel & being a part of foreign cultures but openly admit that my passport has been neglected lately!

It was challenging for me to move here—coming from my home town, knowing nearly everyone, being a very active part of the community, having my family up the street. It was intimidating and isolating and at times it still is which is why I am so excited to become owner of Glenwood Moms for Moms. I am so ready to get out there and really be a part of what this community has to offer, meet and connect with other Moms and hope that all my members experience what I have as a member so far.

“Being a mother is a tremendous gift, albeit challenging at times, but the rewards are unequaled. I launched Rifle Moms for Moms to share my passion and love for motherhood. It is such a blessing to see moms connect both online and in person, and know that I am having a positive impact on their lives and making our community a stronger, better place to live, work, and play.”

I am so blessed to have a wonderful family to join me on my adventures through life. I am a mother to one beautiful little boy, Jackson, who just turned 3, and am blissfully  married to my best friend, the best guy a girl could ask for!  My husband, Dale, and I have been together 5 years, married for 2 this fall.  I grew up in Rifle, and my husband is  also a long time local, who was born and raised in New Castle. After being in South Carolina for almost 5 years, our family moved back to the area this past summer to be closer  to family. South Carolina will always be special to us, but Colorado is home.  I am grateful to be back in the mountains, and am still in awe of this beautiful area we call home.  We haven’t slowed down much since getting married or having a family. In my spare time I like to cook, read, and paint. We also enjoy outings as a family with all the area has to offer, including rafting, horseback riding, camping, and hiking.

I am very proud to be a consultant for the Pampered Chef, and have worked with them for several years. I also work part time managing a mentoring program for a local non-profit, and really enjoy working with the families and youth. I am pursuing my degree in psychology with an emphasis in child and family development, and hope to continue working with families in our area. I feel there is a real need to create a support system for moms in our area, and foster friendships to build a stronger community, so Moms for Moms was a natural fit for me, and I have really enjoyed the process. I cannot wait to see where we go from here!
