Mytle Beach, SC

Myrtle Beach is a beautiful beach town that is full of southern hospitality and charm.

There’s no better place to be a mom than in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina! Located only a short drive from the North Carolina state line, our sixty miles of soft sandy beaches and picture perfect blue Atlantic waters are sought after by thousands of tourists throughout the year.

The beautiful Atlantic ocean is perfect for boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, scuba diving, fishing, para-sailing, and just about any other water sport you can think of. You can also take the family to one of our many water-parks, a fun way to spend the day with your family, cooling off from the heat. And if the ocean or water-parks are too much for you we have beautiful Rivers and Waterways lined with giant Oaks covered in Spanish moss and gardens and state parks lined in palm trees and wildlife. And, if shopping is your thing then you’re definitely in the right spot, with all the Outlet Malls, specialty boutiques and flea markets you could spend days just browsing the stores.

Myrtle Beach is also known for the family-friendly Amusement Parks, live entertainment theaters and dinner shows. There’s many cultural and historic sites as well, and of course, the best Golf courses in the nation! Yes, Myrtle Beach has something for everyone in the family and we Myrtle Beach moms have it all right in our backyards. But best of all are the people that we call friends and neighbors. How lucky are our children to be growing up in such a wonderful community? — Myrtle Beach is the place we love to call home!

Rogue Valley, OR

This area is named for the legendary river that flows through it.

Once the favorite fishing spot of 1930s Hollywood elite (Ginger Rogers, Clark Gable), the Rogue River is nature’s playground. Visitors can hike along its shores, raft the Wild and Scenic section of rapids and spend the night at fishing lodges that were grandfathered in, and find solace in tranquil fishing holes, where it’s often just you and the osprey competing for the fall Chinook or winter Steelhead.

In this area the arts are plentiful, with two award-winning festivals celebrating music and theater: The Britt Festival in historic Jacksonville and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. Both towns, in addition to Medford, offer upscale, market-fresh restaurants, charming inns and bed and breakfasts, cafés and boutique shopping, and some 10 public golf courses. Just two hours away is North America’s deepest lake, Crater Lake.

Missoula, MT

view from sentinel big2Besides the hundreds of outdoor recreation activities Missoula has to offer, it also has countless programs and activities for families and children. Missoula allows children to grow up in a supportive, loving and caring environment, empowering youth to reach their full potential.

Missoula is a unique, gem of a Montana town. Not quite urban, but not as rural as our Montana neighbors, Missoula is nestled in a valley, surrounded by five mountain ranges, with the Clark Fork River running through our quaint, charming town. Our back yard lends itself to a variety of outdoor activities, from skiing in the winter to floating the run-off in the summer. Our summers are spent at the market, river, hiking with our dogs, biking trails, dancing at Out to Lunch and Downtown ToNight, races and marathons. Our autumns are short and painted with beautiful falling leaves and the cheering fans for Griz football. Our winters are long, and spent playing in the snow (some favorites include skiing and snowboarding the Bowl, attending craft fairs and cross-country skiing to local breweries). Our not so favorite winter pastime is spent shoveling out our cars, revealing our bumper stickers that read, “Keep Missoula Weird” and “MisSOULa.” Our springs are much like our falls – short. So short in fact that there may not be a distinct season, rather one winter day turns to summer. Missoula is the perfect place to raise children, and was named six times as “100 best communities for young people.”

Special Needs Moms for MomsSpecial Needs Moms for Moms™ is an online community to connect parents of special needs children to share local, regional and national information, find and offer support, and be inspired through invaluable learning opportunities.

As a parent of a child with special needs, it can be frustrating to find all of the resources you need, such as Occupational Therapy, hearing specialists or innovative treatments. This is especially true if you live in a small town or do not know where to turn to find doctors, therapies or treatments for your child. Special Needs Moms for Moms is a community where we, the members, share all of these resources.

A strong network of parents is powerful in creating a positive, nurturing, safe and fun place for our special needs children. Through collective effort, parent advocates such as ourselves can offer stories, share experiences and pave the way for others who are raising children with special needs.

The San Juan Mountains are truly a special place to call home! This high and rugged mountain range is located in the Rocky Mountains of southwestern Colorado. There are more then 10,000 square miles of mountains, an area roughly the equal size to the state of Massachusetts. It is said to be the largest mountain system in America boosting fourteen 14,000’ peaks and seventy over 13,000’. It’s heaven on Earth and ready for any outdoor adventure winter, spring, summer or fall.

Although breathtaking, the best part about this sacred area of Colorado is the people. The San Juan Community of artisans, ranchers, mountaineers and professionals alike are as wholesome, energetic and progressive as the natural wonderland that surrounds it. Passion through dedication, support through involvement and inspiration by giving back are often the heartbeat of our local story. Plain and simple: WE LOVE IT HERE!
